» ' Overall Description ,
Big and brown and adorable, Eden’s eyes have been the basis of several compliments throughout her life. These beautiful round optics are of a common chocolate brown hue, and could easily be deemed unremarkable were it not for their uncannily enviable ability to both capture and reflect the light of a room, always sparkling with a gentle confidence.
As her eyes, Eden’s hair is of a dark brown shade, gleaming in such a manner that demonstrates the care that has obviously been taken to keep it healthy and voluminous as it bounces past her shoulders with a playful enthusiasm equal to that of her personality. Were it not for this undeniably unique quality, this mane of straight brown hair might, as well, be called unexceptional.
The word average doesn’t do her justice. Looking only at a description of her features, not having actually seen her, that word would most likely be the word one would use to describe her. She has dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, a little short for her age, and of a weight well-proportionate to her size. There is nothing out of the ordinary there- no amazingly coloured hair or captivating eye colour, so she must be completely boring in appearance. However, to see her through your own two eyes is only beginning to fully understand how truly beautiful she really is. There is something outstanding hidden beneath her luminous chestnut hair and dark chocolate eyes, waiting in the glamour of her faultless white-toothed smile for something miraculous to come along and uncover her radiance. There is something outstanding in there, waiting for a reason to actually stand out.
Eden is the sort of girl that you have to look twice at to truly appreciate her subtle loveliness- you could easily skip over her when glancing through a crowd, trying to pick out those of beauty worth noting. She is hard to spot in a crowd if you aren’t looking closely, with her brown hair and common build, but once you really get a look at her, you realize how gorgeous she is, even though she doesn’t have blonde hair and blue eyes and clearly isn’t the stereotypical definition of attractiveness- but there’s definitely something there. Perhaps not magnificence, but prettiness, indeed.

Eden might be one of the most head strong and stubborn people you will ever have the unfortunate pleasure of meeting. When she wants something then she wants something and heaven help whoever is getting in her way. This little rat always seems to have some form of mischief up her sleeve and is more then willing to drag other people into her crazy plans. She can be pretty dead set in her ways and will often times get into arguments whenever someone tries to change her mind. She will do what she does and she will do it her way. No questions asked. This stubbornness and determination to do things the way she wants to might come from a sort of arrogance that she developed over her life from the fact that she always thinks before she acts. She considers every possiblility before she decides upon action, so if somebody tells her to rethink what she's decided to do, after having already though about it long and hard, she isn't very happy.
Many people have a temper. We’ve all heard that characteristic described before. One generally uses the adjective fiery. The words yelling and outbursts generally follow. With Eden, this is not the case. She doesn’t raise her voice, she doesn’t throw things. Her angry is a much colder, more haughty variety. If you've done something bad enough to get her on your case, you don't deserve to see her yelling and screaming and throwing a fit. A sarcastic comment or subtle threat is usually her immediate reaction, but if you have really offended her, she might get violent. Now, it's quite clear that being the tiny person that she is, she doesn't possess much physical power. But something has gone terribly wrong in the world if Eden doesn't have a taizer with her. And of course, that's never the end of it. After getting onto her bad side, you might find that when you get to your car, it's been beaten up beyond repair. Or that your credit card account has been mysteriously cut off. You will always know that it's the work of Eden Menendez, but when you try to get her arrested, there will never be any evidence. No, this sly little cat covers her tracks.
I Have a Plan! Well, Eden does. She always has a plan. She’s a meticulous well thought out individual. She’s certainly got a great head on her shoulders. She has some great critical thinking skills and she’s a problem solver. She will most defiantly be useful when it comes to tactical planning. She can help set traps and figure out greater meanings. She can read people well and figure out their motives. Very little gets past her. Logic is how she sees the world. Clear and calculated her ambition is to get through life without having to address things emotionally. But as we all know, that is an impossible goal. Humans feel and so does Eden but she might wish she didn’t. It doesn’t mean she doesn’t aspire to a higher form of exact logic. Simple, arbitrary rules that one can learn and predict are a lot easier than feelings. If you see life in that particular way you can learn and predict it; you can control them and in turn control life. It makes things feel a lot less scary, even if it isn’t true.
Eden Menendez is annoying as hell, with her knack for realizing exactly what will irritate people the most, and her will to do whatever that happens to be, just for the heck of it. Nothing is more entertaining than seeing someone's reaction when you've pushed all their buttons so hard that they can't even say anything back to you, because there just wouldn't be any point. That, in Eden's book, is a successful attack. But it's important to know that when it comes to Eden annoying, insulting and attacking people, it's all just one big joke. She very rarely does things only to hurt people. It's more for her to get a laugh out of it. Although many people don't believe it, Eden is a generally well-intentioned person, and is always loyal to and protective of the people that she calls her friends. Extremely loyal and protective. She has very little regard for boundaries, and if she has decided that she thinks you're in danger, she will do something about it. She will follow you, track you, bug you, anything she has to do to find out what's going on. She's too curious for her own good, especially when it comes to people she cares about.

the mother, 43 nevercameback

No wonder so much was always expected of Eden- but who could really live up to the kind of standard that was set for her by her perfect mother? That is, perhaps, one of the questions of life that are better left unanswered. Still, Eden Menendez spent her entire life trying to meet this impossible expectation. Lacey Voronova is perfect, and she always has been, but it's simply unrealistic to expect a high school girl to be the same way. Lacey spent her entire life as the beautiful, rich, cheerful, intelligent girl that everybody wished they were. She never knew any other life, so it wasn't so much of a surprise that she thought that was the only possible way for her daughter to live.
So it became that young Eden would try her very, very best to be as close to her mother as possible, in the hopes of becoming more like her. And she was getting pretty good at it, too, until she decided to up and leave without any sort of warning, or explanation beyond a tiny good-bye and a promise to return for her in a note that was promptly crumpled up directly after having been read by her daughter of only sixteen. after Lacey left, the sweetheart that had been Eden Voronova began to fade into the spunky, sarcastic and quick-witted Eden of today. Soon mother and daughter were connected only by their reporter's charm, their thirst for knowledge and their love of investigative reporting, the thin strand that had begun the bond that had been built over a lifetime and destroyed in an instant.

the father, 47 lovedandadmired
Nick Menendez is a good father. Nick Menendez loves his daughter, and nobody in the world would argue otherwise. Perhaps he is your stereotypical overprotective single father- the kind who stays up late waiting for his daughter to come home, making sure that they're not out past curfew, the kind who reads parenting books and cookbooks before bed, the kind who rambled about how his little girl was 'all grown up' on her first date- perhaps Nick Menendez is a stereotypical overprotective single father, but would anybody really want him any other way?
Eden sure as hell wouldn't. But after star reporter and bacon-bringer Lacey sauntered on out of the picture, Nicholas' adorable overprotection was replaced by a few "don't wait up" calls when he was working late. He had always followed the time-demanding and unpredictable career path of a private investigator, but he would take it slowly and steadily- one day at a time. When it occured to him that he now had to be the solo income source for the broken family, he changed gears and started working his little ass off to support the two of them, and Eden soon adjusted to her newfound independence upon finding that most of her time was now spent alone- usually playing with Daddy's investigative gadgetry.

Oh no she didn't. Who the hell was Eden's grade two teacher to tell her parents that she needed an attitude adjustment? She was an educator, not a fucking psychiatrist. She had no business deciding who did and did not need an attitude adjustment. Bitch. Did Annie go around telling her that she needed a few dozen IQ points and a new nose? No, she most certainly did not. She probably should have, but she didn't. So what made her think that she could tell her eight-year-old student's parents that she needed an attitude adjustment? What a loser. In her defense, though, she probably did need an attitude adjustment, but that still didn't give her the right to say so. It wasn't her place. It just wasn't. And anyways, it wasn't as if the little girl had done anything wrong. Bobby Douglas completely and absolutely deserved the threat to be taized. It was only a matter of time before somebody enforced it- Eden had just been saving him the wait.
"My name is Eden Menendez, and seven months ago, my mother decided that she was too good for us, and she walked out on my father and I. My name is Eden Menendez, and I hope she never comes back. I know what you're thinking- what kind of terrible person doesn't want her mom to come back to her? Well, it's quite simple, really. I do not have a mom. The person who left me and my family with practically nothing was the woman who got knocked up by my dad and then didn't want to stick around and help out a little. And when she made that choice to abandon her family, she also abandoned her right to be called a mother. Because a mother would not leave her husband and children without a backwards glance. A mother would not do that. I do not have a mother. I have a father who's always there for me, and who loves me, but I do not have a mother. Because if I had a mother, she would be here. And that actually works out well, though, because if I just say I don't have a mother, I don't have to be traumatized by the fact that she abandoned me. You can't lose something if you never had it to begin with. Maybe she was my mother, technically, until she left, but if she could even think of leaving us when we needed her, then she was never my mother."
The words were spoken with force and feeling. A voice of pain and anger, and involuntary sadness sounded through the dead-silent classroom, bounced off the walls right back into the ears of the misty-eyed speaker as she glared through turquoise eyes, blurred by the tears of surpressed emotion, at the woman who had dared to force her to do a speech on Mother's Day. It was horrible how teachers thought that just because she came to school every day, there was nothing more important going on in her life than a stupid speech for english class. How that awful woman could assume that because Eden had time to study for tests and do her homework, she couldn't possibly have any problems outside of a practice arithmetic problem that she couldn't figure out, or a word that she didn't understand. "And that is my Mother's Day speech." she declared defiantly as she left her dumbstruck teacher to beat herself up, and escaped the scrutinizing gazes of her classmates into the freedom ushered in by that holy 3:30 bell.
Needless to say, Eden has never been a people person. In her younger years, she tended to get along better with guys. Girls just couldn't handle her yet. She was one of those annoying chicks that always thought it was her job to prove herself as being just as good as anybody else, if not better. Hopefully better. Preferably better. Usually better. Unfortunately, a really "fun" way for her to do this was by making people's lives living Hells every time they pissed her off. How did she manage this? Why, by stealing Daddy's toys, of course! Well, not stealing. Nicholas was always happy to have his daughter borrow his tools, if they were going to be used for good instead of evil. Which, contrary to popular belief, they usually were. Because even though her methods might be deemed by some to be unnecessary, extreme, or even cruel, her intentions were, and are to this day, always good. After all, you can't get away with much when your father is walking arm in arm with the popo.
Ah yes, the joys of having a P.I. for a father. Turns out the "private" in front of "investigator" loosens people's lips a little bit more than the "police" in front of "department" does. So Eden's father ended up working with the police on a lot of cases, so that means no law-breaking for Eden. No, no. With the local sheriff paying frequent and unplanned visits to the house, playing illegal pranks on classmates probably isn't the best idea. Justifying injustices was her hobby, not committing crimes. Maybe her method of doing so was a little bit non-ideal, but if the end justifies the means...

She was surprised at how well he was taking this. If somebody had asked her that kind of question, put her on the spot like that, she would have flipped out. She would have laid out several scenarios and possible answers that she could give to the question, all of them, of course, ending badly. Because that was just the way she was. She would look at what she thought to be all of her options, but she would only see the bad options. She didn't believe it to be possible for somebody to answer that kind of question correctly, and certainly not for somebody to answer it correctly, without hesitation, smoothly, calmly, and perfectly the way Mikah did. But she had been wrong before, and she had definitely been wrong this time, because she honestly could not imagine answering that horrible, thoughtless question well. She couldn't imagine it, but she had just witnessed it, so she didn't have to.[/blockquote]
Most people liked it when people were nice to them, when they were genuinely kind, sympathetic or supportive of them, but not Nikki. She truly and honestly hated it when people were sweet to her. She hated it because it scared the crap out of her, the way it scared the crap out of her that Mikah was so perfect, but had still just admitted to being on a date with her, the most flawed person in the world. She hated being afraid, so she hated things that scared her, and good people, being good to her, terrified her. And they terrified her because she didn't think she deserved to have people be good to her the way that Mikah was always so good to her. It just wasn't fair. She was a bitch. She was. She was a bitch, and a horrible, horrible person, yet people still liked her, and although she pretended that there must be something about her that was good, or else people wouldn't like her, but in the end she just admitted that those people who liked her had absolutely no reason to do so, and it actually upset her that they did. People should only get what they deserve. You reap what you sew. But Nikki didn't. People gave her more respect, showed her more kindness, and were just better people than she could ever possibly deserve to associate with, and that bothered her. It made her want to cry, because it scared her, because she strongly believed in karma. Because one day, all of these people were going to realize what she already knew, that she didn't deserve to be treated the way they treated her, and they would just leave her alone, and she didn't think she would be able to handle that. Better to start with nothing than to have everything taken away from her. Still, perfect people like Mikah refused to leave her alone, and the last thing she wanted was for Mikah to leave her alone, but it still scared the hell out of her that he also didn't seem to want to leave her. That was just not normal. So when she heard his soothing voice telling her reassuring words, and she felt his hand on hers, it scared her, and her throat closed up and she jerked her hand towards her and away from him- she stopped herself before she could pull it away completely, but it was noticeable, and she was afraid that he would take it to mean that she didn't like what he was doing and saying. God, life would have been so much easier if everybody just treated her like the bitch she was. Everything would make sense if everybody would just acknowledge the fact that she was horrible and undeserving of the attention that everybody gave her.
Then she started to wonder whether she should or should not put her money away. She hated it when other people had to pay for her. It made her feel bad about costing them money, and self-conscious about how much money she was costing them. When she bought herself food, she bought a lot of food, because she didn't care if people thought she ate too much. In fact, she made sure that everybody knew that she ate a lot, because even if they thought that she ate too much, nobody was going to seriously and honestly call her fat. But if they thought that she didn't eat enough, they might think that that was why she wasn't fat. So she didn't try to hide the fact that she ate more than most people did. But she didn't want anybody else to have to pay for her food, because she would be costing them way more money than she was comfortable making them spend on her. After all, Mikah shouldn't have to pay for her fast metabolism and defiance for modern society. Not to mention the fact that if she put her money away, she'd have to take her hand away from Mikah's.But if she insisted on paying for her own food, then he would think that she didn't want it to be a date, because he had told her that if it was a date then she couldn't pay. And she wanted it to be a date, but she didn't want for him to pay for her. It was uncomfortable and rude to make somebody else pay for her meals. But she didn't want him to think that shewasn't madly in love with himdidn't like him. She had no idea what to do, which was starting to become a trend with this date, but was still a new experience for her, because she always had a smooth, controlled way of going about things. She was always either calm and collected or wild and crazy, but she was never awkward. Not even aroundthe man that she wanted to be with foreverMikah. And really, by now, she should have just been accepting that it was a date, accepting that they both wanted it to be a date, and just going about it the way that she would have gone about any other date. But for some reason, even without the additional awkwardness of not knowing whether they both wanted it or not, she was still scared. Maybe it was because Mikah was perfect and that scared the shit out of her, or maybe it was because she wasn't sure if she was ready to be in a relationship that involved demonstrating the new, intense feelings that she felt for him. Because she never had before. She had been in relationships, but she had never felt the same way about any other guy as she felt about Mikah Savage, and that also scared her. What did it mean? And it was one thing for him to want to be on a date with her, but did he have those same feelings for her? Knowing Mikah, it meant unfortunately little for him to be okay with the fact that this had turned into a date. They had both been on millions of dates before, and they both knew that, so maybe that meant that this one wasn't as different to him as it was to her. Because even though he seemed to want to be on a date with her, he was a lot more comfortable with it than she was, and that might just have been because he was just a generally less awkward person than she was, but it also might have been because he didn't see as much reason to be awkward as she did, and that also scared her. Nikki Redmond was scared of a lot more things than she prefered that people knew, and most of them involved Mikah in one way or another.
